I was intending posting this blog over the weekend, then I decided to do it on Monday, but I just keep getting side-tracked. Time seems to be flying past frightening quickly. Friday evening started the weekend with a fabulous rainbow...
... which set the trend for the weekend. Saturday wasn’t too bad but Sunday saw torrential rain for most of the day. Still the garden needed it, although it did batter my peonies down.
The day after the Raft Races at Portrush, we headed of to Stormont for the Red Bull Soap Box Races (quite an action-packed weekend). It was a fabulous sunny day and the setting looked great.

There were far too many vehicles to show them all, so I've posted up some of my favourites. Starting with good old Tweetie Pie from the Looney Lambs...
As usual I'm playing catch-up with my posts and should have put this up a fortnight ago, but I think the fact that I was so ill after this event, probably from sunstroke, kinda put me off thinking about it enough to post up! It was a glorious day and the atmosphere was that of fun and merry-making.

The rafts varied from nothing more than a huge block of polysterene with seats cut out ...
We've had an action-packed weekend, but I am dedicating this post solely to Friday evening as it has to fall into one of the most amazing sights I have ever experienced. We decided to head back down to the caravan at Portrush so that we could go along to the Raft Races the next day, taking the coastal road as I love that route. As usual, we drove along glancing at the sea in the hope of seeing a seal bob it's head up (which up to now I haven't seen along this part of the coast).
I'm a strong believer in 'mind over matter', probably the reason I'm very rarely ill. Sod's law that this weekend was one of those rare occasions. For the first time since I've moved over here, I went down with a virus on Friday night that left me bed-ridden for the whole of the next day. Not sure what it was, but my glands swelled up to the point where I thought they would burst which caused bad ear-ache, head ache and a very sore throat. But somehow, mind won over the illness and by the end of Sunday I was at least able to go for a quiet stroll along the front.
Well it certainly felt like it this weekend. Spent the entire of Saturday doing a bit of spring cleaning and I have to admit that house looks better for it. Jay and Sharon came over in the evening (yes I know, I always need an incentive to clean the place up!) and Andy actually put the door back on the bathroom in their honour!
Well I've certainly added a few new names to my list of sighted birds along the Antrim coastline, and today I ventured to pastures new and added 4 more birds from the headland and the lough.
Last weekend I saw the first signs of Spring with the arrival of the Swifts. Unfortunately they were so fast that I couldn't really capture them on camera .. but I did my best!...

Yes I know - I've yet again let over a month slip past without posting. And such a lot has gone on during that time too. Firstly I had a flying visit over to England, primarily for mum's birthday and because a LAN happened to fall on the Easter long weekend and we keep promising to get to one. As it turned out I also needed to fit in a visit to my friend Lana (daughter of one of my closest friends) to see her new arrival (Sophia Poppy). Never thought I'd see Lana as a mum but she's taken to it like a duck to water despite all her misgivings!
It's been a long time since I posted I know, so this is going to be a long one as lots has been going on since I was last on here (hence no time to keep my blog going). The first weekend I missed was spent at a pre-wedding tea on the Saturday and celebrating Jim's 60th Birthday on the Sunday. We celebrated at the Half Way House on the Larne coast...
